Some picture, eh? Well, this is just a sample of the incredible sights there are to see in Uzbekistan. This is the Registan, located in the city of Samarkand. Below is the Chor Minor Mosque in the city of Bukhara. |

The Kalyan minaret was built in 1127 and served as a beacon to travelers, a lofty perch for Muslim clerics to call the faithful to prayer, and a handy form of capital punishment when prisoners were thrown off it. |

The ruins below are part of the few remains of the old city wall of Bukhara, taken at the Sheikh-Djalal gate. |

The fortress walls of the Bukhara citadel, from which the rulers of the city governed during the Middle Ages. It has come to be known as "The Ark" today. The graffiti written on the wall translates to "Goal France"...obviously a sign that the French soccer team has some fans among the children who use the wall as part of their own games. |
